Quiz Night - 28th March 2014

The Friday just gone, myself and 3 other explorers ran a quiz night that was held at our local community centre, The Hilt. We had a huge turnout with 162 adults turning up.

Fish 'n Chips were delivered by the local chip shop half way through. Well when I say 'half way through' I mean we only got through two rounds before supper arrived because we didn't anticipate it would take so long to do one round! Then to make it extra confusing, especially for Harvey doing the scoring, we changed some of the rounds around which made it more of a challenge to see who would come out on top! Well done 'Club Fromage' for winning!

We had 12 rounds varying from Geography to Naming Musicals! Various jokers were also played throughout the night to allow people to gain double points on rounds which unleashed their strong points! Some rounds went down better that others - the musicals one was very interesting... when we finally got the sound working!

It went on later than expected by the longer it went on, the more people bought alcohol so we made some money on the bar as well.

As a result of our combined efforts we made a substantial amount of money and thank you to everyone who supported us in attending our quiz night!

We cannot wait to do another one!

PS enjoy my many photos :)

The Tea and Biscuits - March Camp

The weekend just gone was amazing!

The Tea and Biscuits (formerly known as Unit 11) had a unit camp up at Pinsent Campsite in Winchester over the weekend just gone. We did many activities from playing many rounds of manhunt to making origami cranes.

Those going to the Jamboree with us from Guernsey also came across for the weekend and it was great to meet them; I cannot wait to see them again!

Also the Unit name was decided and we are no longer Unit 11 but in fact we are The Tea and Biscuits.

I had a really great time on the camp with the rest of my unit and I cannot wait until the next camp!

February/March Fundraising Update

So it's been quite busy recently with exams, fundraising and attempting to start my Gold D of E but I am still coping to do it all!

During February I participated in a district jamboree car wash at Hiltingbury Rec Car Park that helped raise more funds for the Japan pot. Despite the poor weather, we still made money!

The weekend just gone I went on a camp with a local Scout Troop that I volunteer at as a Young Leader. We went to Foxlease, Lyndhurst and I took along some jamboree jelly bean neckers and sold 9 of them to the scouts. Another £27 in the jamboree district pot!

I shall be taking a break from heavy fundraising quite soon as my exams are near and revision comes as a priority. Nonetheless I will still be doing fundraising and helping out in the background but when my exams are over, I'll be back to full steam!
